TRAVEL INFORMATION

Planning the

Flying In

Fly into Rome (FCO), the main international airport most guests traveling from the US or Canada will find most convenient. From there, Assisi is about two and a half hours away by car or train, making for a scenic final stretch through the Italian countryside.

FCO has the most options for flights from North America, however for some Florence Airport (FLR) is another option and is accessible by car and train to Assisi.

From Airport to Assisi

There are a few easy ways to make your way from Rome to Assisi, depending on how you’d like to travel. Private transfers and taxis offer a simple option, and sharing a ride with other guests can make the journey even more convenient.

Assisi also has its own train station, with regular rail connections from Rome and other major cities, making it easy to sit back and enjoy the trip through the scenic hills. Bus services are available as well for another flexible option.

We’ll be arranging a shuttle for guests, with more details below.

Car Rentals

If you'd rather have your own set of wheels for the trip, there's free parking on-site at the venue. During our first visit to Assisi, we rented a car and enjoyed the drive into Umbria! If you have any questions about renting a car or driving in Italy, Andrew is happy to answer them.

Shuttles

We’re planning to run shuttles on Tuesday, our main arrival day, and Friday, our departure day. If your flight or travel from Rome to Assisi lines up with those days, we hope this will make getting to and from the venue as seamless as possible.

While we will be hosting all guests & events onsite at Castello di Petrata from Tuesday through Friday, for guest arriving before or staying after we recommend staying in one of the following places.

Assisi itself is quaint and unbelievably charming. When we visited, we didn't have much of a plan — just wandered and took in the views. If you like a bit more structure than that, here are a few recommendations for where to eat and what to see.
